Inexpensive Wedding Candle Gift + Free Printable Poem!

Are you looking for a Fun, and frugal gift idea for a Wedding shower/Wedding? This is the answer!

I have been making this "Candle Wedding Gift" for years now, and the recipients' always love this gift! It is easy to put together, and it is very inexpensive.

Here's how to make this:

1) You can use any kind of box or basket, you can get creative with this! The box in this picture, I purchased on clearance at Meijer for only $2. Then I lined the bottom of the box with tissue paper.

2) I purchased (2) of each different color votive candles, as described in the poem below. You can substitute with changing the colors of candles. These are fairly priced at stores such as Walmart or your local Dollar Store. I also included (2) Votive candle holders. These were very inexpensive at Walmart. You could also include a candle lighter, snuffer, or matches.

3) Attached to the inside of the box lid, I typed and attached this poem:

*Make sure to make the poem text couple appropriate, For example: if they already have a child, be sure to adjust the line “By this time we hope just maybe, You’ll light the purple candles to welcome another baby”. You get the general idea.

A box of candles for you two to share Wrapped with love for the special “pair”

The white ones burn first, on the night that you wed, To spark your dreams, for the many years ahead.
The green pair is no taller or no thinner, Burn with the first company you have over for dinner.
The Dark Red candles are for after your first fight, Use them to burn while making up all night.
The pink candles set the mood and pave the way, For your very first married Valentine’s Day.
Now when your first year of marriage is through, The cream Anniversary pair will light for you.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright, Celebrate accomplishments you’ve worked towards with all of your might.
By this time we hope just maybe, You’ll light the purple candles to welcome a baby.
And when you thought you’d put these away, Take the light blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day!
Now just one more pair for the big 25, The orange Anniversary pair will keep your love alive.
Congratulations recipients' name on the start of forever, May the two of you always be happy together.
Now burn these candles the way that we said, But don’t forget to blow them out before bed!

I have made this poem into a convenient printable format for you! You can even edit it, to add the receipients' name, and add anything else that you'd like! Enjoy!

  1. What a great idea! I love the poem. Now, if only I knew someone that was getting married soon.
