Coupon Tips Every Couponer Needs To Know!
Are you new to coupons? Here are some helpful tips that every couponer needs to know!
1. Always Read the Fine print on coupons and deals: Examples below-
One Coupon Per Purchase : This means one coupon per item. If you buy 10 bottles of shampoo & have 10 coupons for them it's okay! Not one coupon per transaction. Unless stated on the coupon. Sometimes you can still combine a store coupon, or e-coupon with a manufacturer coupon, so it is always good to know your stores policies! If you are unsure of the store's coupon policy contact Corporate and ask for it in writing!
One Coupon Per transaction :This means that if you have a coupon for $1 off said item, then you can only use one of those coupons. You can still use other coupons for other items.
One Coupon per Person or Family: This means you can only use 1 of these coupons.
2. Make sure to Read the Fine print on the coupon & Ignore the picture! For example if it says $1 off any Covergirl makeup & only shows a picture of lipstick, then you can still use that coupon to get mascara, Because the wording says ANY! You have to pay close attention to these things.
The biggest thing is to just make sure to read all the fine print! And go by the rules!
3.Number of items/coupons - Some stores will limit the amount of an item that you are purchasing when clearing the shelves, some do not. It's just not right to go to a store, purchase 20 of the same items and leave nothing for the others! Please be courteous of the amount you purchase at one time!
4. Coupons may only be used once - You can't buy 2 items & use the same coupon two times!
5. You can not use 2 coupons for 1 item. You can however use 1 store coupon & 1 manufacturer coupon if the store allows it.
6. Coupons can not be copied! It is Illegal to copy coupons! Don't do it!
7. Most stores Do Not accept expired coupons! Make sure to know your stores coupon policy, just in case if they do. Do not just assume that they will accept it, ask a manager or cashier.
8.Do not try to use a coupon for an item that you are NOT buying! And make sure to do as the coupon says. Basically, if a coupon is for $1 off 2, then you must buy 2 to use the coupon. If you do not follow the rules to a T, then that is stealing!
9.You can use coupons on clearance items too!
10. If you have a coupon for B1G1 Free, and the store has that item on sale for B1G1 free, then you'll get 2 Free! The store provides 1 free, and the Manufacturer provides one Free.
11. If you have a FREE product coupon & it is on sale for B1G1 free, then you'll get 2 Free! The same concept as above.
12. If you have a coupon for save $1/2, then you can use it if the item is on sale for B1G1 free and you buy 2.
13. If a coupon starts with the number 5 on the bar code it will Always double at a store that doubles coupons. Even if the coupon states "Do Not Double" it still will automatically. If a coupon starts with a number 9 on the bar code - it will NEVER double at any store whether it states "Do NOT Double" or not.
14. 10 for $10 or 2/$5 ect. - When there is a sale for 10 for $10 you don't have to buy 10! The items are just $1 ea. Same goes for 2/$5 -they are just $2.50 ea. You get the idea. But always read the fine print just in case!
15. Printable coupons: There are typically 2 types of printable or Internet coupons. Bricks coupons and PDF coupons. Bricks coupons have a limit of 2 coupons per computer. A PDF coupon does not have a limit. You have to be real careful with PDF coupons because some of them are fraudulent. Go by the rule of thumb if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is! If you see a PDF coupon for a Free item & you can print it as many times as you want then most likely it is fraudulent! If you are printing a Bricks type coupon, if you hit your browsers back button it will allow you to print another one. If you have access to multiple computers, then you'll be able to get more coupons.

Hi and thank you for all your help saving me money and time!
ReplyDeleteI do have a question. I thought I read one time that we could use 2 B1G1 free coupons and it would be free for 2 items. I think it was at Dillons.
Can you tell me if that is true and do you know if it works? It sounds to good to be true.lol
Karla
Hi Karla! Different stores have different policies, so its best to check with the store policy at Dillons. The way that I unserstand this- If you have (2) B1G1 free coupons than you'd have to buy 4 items. 2 of those items would be free. But you still have to pay for 2! Hope this answered your question!
