Coupon Preview & Reminder

We should be getting 3 inserts this week 1 Smart Source, 1 Red Plum, and 1 P&G insert. Go HERE. On Coupon Clippers HERE they are saying we are getting 5 inserts. Remember that these previews vary by region. I always recommend flipping through each paper because the coupons are not guaranteed.

Coupons to note:
*Daisy sour cream - I've been able to get these free after MQ in the past
*Kelloggs coupons- These are always great to have on hand!

There are a lot of good coupons, so make sure to check the preview!

**As a reminder, you can get the Sunday paper for $1 each at your local "Deals" store, or "Dollar Tree". I always recommend getting an even number of newspapers, because of BOGO sales ect. (minimum 2 newspapers a week) I also recommend checking each insert before purchasing several- you are not guaranteed coupon inserts and this preview varies by region!

UDF has newspapers for $1.25 ea.

I would probably get around 4-6 newspapers this week!

This is my no picture version of my weekly savings. To be completely honest, this week I've been very busy getting ready for my sons birthday party (btw, I will share his birthday party sometime next week!) I didn't even get to do the bulk of my shopping until last night after dinner. When I got home I just had too much to do & I was just too tired to separate and take pictures of everything. By following my blog, and/or other money saving blogs, it makes it easier for you and all you have to do is buy Sunday newspapers & follow the blogs and before you know it you'll be saving hundreds of dollars too!

Resurrection Eggs for Easter

Easter (like all the other holidays) has become so commercialized that sometimes we forget the true meaning of Easter. Because I want to teach my children the true meaning of Easter, I decided to make some Resurrection eggs. I have seen these online, and at the Christian store for high dollar, but knew that I could make these for Free. And it was very easy!
All you need is an empty egg carton, 12 plastic eggs, paper or construction paper, crayons, and slips of paper with the bible verses written or typed on them. Some people also include an actual item to go with the verse, but I just added pictures of the items. We also reuse the plastic eggs year after year so I didn't have to purchase these either!
1. First have your child decorate the paper to cover the top of the empty egg carton. My 5 year old daughter wrote & decorated ours. She didn't spell resurrection right but its OK, LOL! Then glue or tape it to the top of the egg carton.
2. Next put the small slips of paper, or items if you choose to do that as well into each egg.
3. Then place them into the egg carton.
4. That's it your finished! Easy enough!
(Bread) Matthew 26:26 While they were eating Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to His disciples. "Take and eat it," He said, "This is My body."
(Coins) Matthew 26: 14-15 Then one of the twelve disciples, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and asked, "What will you give me if I betray Jesus to you?" They counted out thirty silver coins and gave them to him.
(Purple cloth, representing a purple robe) Mark 15:17 They put a purple robe on Jesus. . .

(Thorns, like on a rose stem) Matthew 27:29 Then they made a crown out of thorny branches and placed it on His head, and put a stick on His right hand; then they knelt before Him and made fun of Him. "Long live the King, of the Jews!" they said.
(Scourge-a small piece of rope or thick string) Mark 15:15 Pilate wanted to please the crowd, so he set Barabbas free for them. Then he had Jesus whipped and handed Him over to be crucified.

(A small cross) John 19: 17-18a He went out, carrying His cross, and came to "The Place of the Skull," as it is called. (In Hebrew it is called "Galgotha.") There they crucified Him.

(Nails) John 20:25b Thomas said to them, "Unless I see the scars of the nails in His hands and put my finger on those scars and my hand in His side, I will not believe."

(Sign saying "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.") Luke 23:38 Above Him were written these words: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

(Small piece of sponge) Matthew 27:48 One of them ran up at once, took a sponge, soaked it in cheap wine, put it on the end of a stick, and tried to make Him drink it.
(Something representing a spear) John 19:34 One of the soldiers plunged his spear into Jesus' side, and at once blood and water poured out.

(Rock) Matthew 27:59-60 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a new linen sheet, and placed it in his own new tomb, which he had just recently dugout of solid rock. Then he rolled a large stone across the entrance to the tomb and went away.
(Empty) Matthew 28:6 He is not here He has risen just as He said.
Once you have made the Resurrection eggs, then you can decide how to use them.

1.) Some people open one egg per day leading up to Easter. I know I'm posting this kinda late to start this, sorry! But if this is what you'd like to do, then you could open 2 the first day, and so on.
2.) Another idea is to number the eggs 1-12. Hide them, then have the children hunt for them. After all of the eggs are found, have each child take turns reading the verses out load. For example child (A) found #1 so she reads it, or have the parent read it if she's too young to read. Then child (B) found #2, repeat the process so on & so forth.
3.) You could have the children open & read them at a family gathering, or the day that you do Easter Egg coloring.
4.) One more idea- Read to them the Easter story. At each part of the story that mentions one of the items, have the child get that egg, open it & then read the verse.

The options are endless, just be creative & have fun!

Another Great idea to help to teach your children the real story of Easter. Easter Story Cookies!
This activity is to be done the night before Easter morning. This is a great recipe, and it seems really easy. Use the cookies/story to teach them that the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior is not dead, but He Has Risen. We'll definitely be trying these this year! Go HERE for the directions.

Easy Spring Cleaning Tips

Winter is over, and now Spring Cleaning is on my mind! Here a few tips to get you motivated & started on Spring Cleaning. (If you haven't started yet, like me, I've been so busy lately-but since it's April now, it is my goal to get all my Spring Cleaning finished this month!)

Basic Tips:
*So that I don't get too overwhelmed I concentrate on one room per day, or per week. Whichever works better with your schedule.
*When cleaning always use this rule of thumb- clean top to bottom!
*When doing each room use 3 bags/boxes. Label each bag/box as follows:
1) Garbage
2) Donate- items to give away to Good Will or other
3) Sell (items to be stored until our yard/garage sale)
This helps to keep everything organized where it need to go.
*Bring all of your cleaning products/items with you to avoid any unnecessary trips in/out of the room your cleaning.
*Estimate how long you think it will take to tackle job (a) then set a timer & try to beat the time. It will get done sooner than you think! If you are finished before the timer goes off use this time to relax and do something you enjoy like reading a magazine or book, watch tv ect. until the timer does go off. Then start on the next job (b) and repeat this process. If you don't beat the timer don't beat yourself up, just work until your finished then try again on the next job. But remember to be thorough when cleaning, it will make cleaning easier next time!
* It always helps me to have a checklist with my goals/to-do's and then to check them off as I go! This helps so that I can see what I've accomplished & what still needs to be done!
There are many printable checklists from the web, or you can make your own! Here are a few of my favorites:
*Woman's Day magazine has awesome printable spring cleaning lists HERE

*e-printableCalandars.com offers a printable spring cleaning list that you can personalize.
*About.com has a complete spring cleaning checklist & spring cleaning guide
*Chart Jungle has printable charts for just about everything! Including cleaning charts!
